Just a few cake details from a wedding I got to help Jon with a couple of weeks ago.

When I first got married I was more gung-ho about cooking than I am now. I must have had more time back then. When I cook, I don’t really use recipes, I just kind of make things up. Or, if I do use recipes they’re old family ones with instructions like “keep adding flour until it gets really hard to stir.”
Every time I made something noteworthy, I would take a picture of it. Due to the fact that I am not a food stylist, I have a large collection of mediocre photos of meals I made two years ago. However, I found this one the other day and thought it was post worthy.
It’s from a pear and pomegranate salad. I don’t think that pears or pomegranates are in season right now, but if you’re interested in making this one someday, it’s essentially just romaine lettuce, candied walnuts, pomegranate seeds, a chopped pear, and some variety of raspberry vinaigrette.
Enjoy!

+My tomato seedlings finally sprouted. Aren’t they adorable?
+In a matter of a week I’ll have whole new apartment to decorate
+My husband got me an amazing lens as a graduation gift (85mm f1.2 L!!!)
+There have been a few warm bike riding days, but it’s still cool enough for me to wear scarves (I love scarves)
+It’s officially spring
what makes you happy these days?
I don’t know about you guys, but daylight savings has got me really sleepy. It’s even worse today than it was yesterday. Not to mention that I recently revamped our bed with new pillows (I made them!) and a new duvet, so it’s extra cozy and fresh for spring.
p.s.: I love the light in our apartment. Hopefully the new place will be good too.
