Merry Christmas!

As many of you might know,  my husband Andy and I have started offering video coverage to brides who want to document their day with photography and a film.  He has a great eye and passion for what he does.  I want to congratulate him on his recent award from the Utah Film Commission.  He won the 2011 Spot On Campaign Award with his entry, “Utah is Epic”.   We’ve had such an amazing time shooting these commercial spots (camping, day tripping, and generally gallivanting all over the state for the last four months) so it’s really a pleasure to see them succeed. I have many more fun still images and behind the scenes shots to share, but in the meantime, here are the winning spots (make sure to watch them in fullscreen HD):

Mmmm, summer.

I really love fall, but there’s just something about summer. These were all taken this August in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, France.

Today I’m missing:

• my family (pictured above are Grandma, Grandpa, and an assortment of cousins, aunts and uncles seated around the table)
• lounge chairs
• eating outside
• tourtons (incredibly delicious fritters filled with mashed potatoes and leeks and eaten dipped in honey, with some salad on the side for good measure. They’re a specialty of the Champsaur valley in the High Alps)
• our old house
• everybody sitting around together reading and having their coffee after lunch (with lots of dark chocolate for me)
• France
• summer

I’ve got a couple of weddings and some other fun posts on the way, but in the meantime I thought I’d give you with a little eye candy from our trip to France.

These were all taken around my grandparents house in the Alps.

I’m headed off to the motherland (or fatherland, in my case), where I’ll be hanging out with family, gallivanting around my favorite lake in the world, eating my fill of unpasteurized cheeses, celebrating this guy’s 80th birthday, and (of course) taking tons of photos. I’ll also be starting a new project that I can’t wait to share when I get back.

A bientot, mes amis!

I popped over to the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday morning before flying home from Chelsea and Andrew’s Wedding. I loved wandering around, talking to the (very friendly) fishermen, and watching as Pacific Park opened for the day. As an added bonus, I got to dip my toes in the Pacific (first ocean contact in two whole years-a tragedy for a beach girl like me).

When I flew out to LA for Chelsea and Andrew’s wedding, I was lucky enough to have some time to spare for a little sightseeing. I spent a blissful afternoon wandering the Getty, which is now officially on my list of favorite museums ever. They had a couple of really nice photography exhibits, not to mention an incredible setting.

The botanical gardens in Montreal are some of the best I’ve ever been to. I used to go all the time when I was a kid.

Here are just a few from the greenhouses.

This is one of the biggest markets in Montreal and it’s only two blocks from my dad’s apartment. I would die to have such a massive variety of fresh local food so close to me. Some highlights were things like bundles of purple, yellow, red, and orange carrots and fun sized cantaloupe (the size of an apple).

Vegetarian foodie heaven? I think so.
