Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your photography style?

My style is clean, bright, and classic. I want your wedding images to be a timeless heirloom that you can look at years after and still be excited about. Because of that, I keep the look of my photos really fresh and natural and don’t try to push them around to fit whatever the current trend is. I want you to love your photos now, and ten or twenty years from now.

How would you describe your working style?

One of my goals since I started my business has been to not only create beautiful images, but also a wonderful experience for my clients. I’m fun and laid back and can help you feel comfortable during our sessions, but I’m also a professional and I take my job very seriously. I pay attention to the details, I’m organized, prompt and professional.

Why do you photograph weddings?

Because there’s nothing I love doing more. Weddings allow me to work in so many different styles of photography. There’s traditional portraiture and photojournalism, but there’s also landscape and architecture, tabletop still-life, and all the little details. When I photograph a wedding, I have the opportunity to tell the complete story of that day and that couple from every angle. I also love being part of such a happy day. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve left a wedding at the end of the night just giddy with excitement and joy.

How do we book you?

To reserve your date, I require a deposit and signed photography agreement. The deposit is $500, and it will be applied toward your package total. Contact me to check availability and reserve your date.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept checks, cash, credit cards, debit cards, and Venmo payments.

Will I have the rights to my photos?

Yes. All of my packages come with high resolution digital files and a signed copyright release for personal use and printing.

How soon will I be able to see my photos after the wedding?

Your wedding photos will be ready four weeks after the wedding. They’ll be in an online gallery that you can share with your family and friends.

How far in advance should I schedule my engagements and bridals?

If you are going to use your engagement photos in your invitations, you should schedule your shoot for at least two to four weeks before you plan to mail them. Bridals should be taken two to four weeks before the wedding. We can work on a tighter timeline if your situation requires it, but the times listed above will allow ample time for editing and printing.

Where will we take our engagements and bridals?

We’ll work together to find the perfect place for your sessions. I have a huge list of locations I love. I’m always looking for new ideas though, so don’t hesitate to suggest your own places if you have some in mind.

What should I wear for my Engagement Session?

You and your fiance should wear clothes that represent your personal style. You want to be yourself and feel comfortable with what you’re wearing. Coordinate without matching, and go for layers, accessories, and pops of color. You can see some great outfit ideas here.

Do you have backup equipment? What about a backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for some reason?

Yes, and yes. As a professional I know that I’ve got to be ready for any situation and prepared for every disaster. I have camera and lens backups with me in case of equipment failure, and my camera automatically creates duplicate copies of your photos on a separate memory card in case one of them were to fail. In the unlikely event that I were to be ill or unable to photograph your wedding, I have a network of trusted photographers that could replace me in an emergency.

How do I know that my photos are safe?

Safeguarding your photos against any possible disaster is one of my top priorities. From the moment I click the shutter, your images are duplicated onto two separate memory cards in case one of them were to fail. As soon as I get home, I make backups on two separate hard drives, one of which is kept in a different location in case my office were to explode. Once your photos are edited, they’re uploaded at full resolution to my proofing site, where every image is backed up with Amazon Web Services, the gold standard in online protection. That’s where your photos will live happily ever after. You can access them and download the full resolution images any time, for years to come.

I’m getting married in Mexico/Hawaii/Wisconsin. Do you travel?

Of course! I absolutely love to travel for weddings and will go anywhere you need me to be–from the top of a mountain to an oceanside beach. I only ask that you cover my transportation and lodging costs.
