Kimball Terrace Weddings

A Photographer's Guide to Park City's Most Unique Event Venue

📍 Park City, Utah | 675 Main Street

There is nowhere else in Utah quite like Kimball Terrace. Perched on the top floor of a building at the corner of Heber and Main in the heart of downtown Park City, it gives you something no mountain resort venue can: the slopes and the town at the same time. If your idea of a perfect wedding involves stunning mountain scenery, world-class food, and the lively, charming energy of one of the most beloved small cities in the West, this is your venue.

I've photographed summer weddings and events here and left thinking it might be the most fun I've had shooting in Park City.

The Setting

Kimball Terrace sits above the action of Main Street, which means you're in the middle of everything and completely removed from it at the same time. The views from the terrace are what make this place genuinely special. To the west you get a panorama of the Park City mountain slopes, and rising up those slopes are the pastel-colored ski cottages that are completely unique to this town. It looks like nowhere else. There's a warmth and charm to that view that you simply don't get from a lodge or resort, and it photographs beautifully.

To the east, the wraparound balcony looks straight down onto historic Main Street. That classic Park City energy — mining town turned luxury ski destination — is right there below you. The combination of those two views in one venue is something I haven't seen anywhere else in Utah.

The Spaces

The West Terrace

This is the heart of a Kimball Terrace wedding. The 1,800 square foot outdoor terrace faces west toward the slopes and those iconic ski cottages, bordered by garden landscaping that softens the urban setting beautifully. It's the natural home for your ceremony and cocktail hour. The light out here is wonderful, the backdrop is one of a kind, and nothing obstructs the views. It holds up to 150 for a reception or 100 seated.

The Main Hall

Inside, the Main Hall is 4,500 square feet of floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and a design aesthetic that hits a perfect balance between sleek and warm. The windows wrap almost all the way around, pulling in both the mountain slopes to the west and Main Street below to the east. You never lose the sense of place, even indoors.

The space works beautifully for dinner and dancing. The design is clean and contemporary without being cold, and it functions as a near-blank canvas for whatever decor vision you bring to it. Modern finishes in wood, brick, and brass give it character without competing with your styling. It holds up to 300 for a reception or 175 seated.

The Wraparound Balcony

One of my favorite details is the narrow wraparound balcony that overhangs Main Street itself. It's not a large space, but it's a spectacular one. Looking straight down onto the street below with the mountain backdrop behind it.

Photography at Kimball Terrace

Shooting here is genuinely a dream. The light is good, the views are beautiful in every direction, and there are no real challenges I'd flag for couples to plan around. The interior space is well lit and versatile. The terrace is open and bright.

For couples portraits I always recommend a mix of the terrace itself and a wander down Main Street. Main Street Park City is one of the most photogenic streets in Utah — the historic storefronts, the mountain backdrop at the end of every block, the energy of people enjoying the town. It makes for portraits that feel alive and specific to this place in a way that resort venues can't replicate. Plan a 20 minute window to walk the street together and you'll have some of the most memorable images of your day.

Culinary Crafts

Kimball Terrace is operated by Culinary Crafts, which is widely considered the top catering company in Utah. This matters more than couples might realize when they're comparing venues. The food at a Culinary Crafts event is not standard wedding catering. It's custom, thoughtful, ingredient-driven, and genuinely memorable. I've been to a lot of weddings, and whenever I see Culinary Crafts on the vendor list, I know the food is going to be one of the highlights of the night. Having them built into the venue is a significant advantage.

Their event coordination team is equally strong, and they're experienced enough to let outside planners work alongside them smoothly if you're bringing your own.

Who Is Kimball Terrace For?

This venue is for couples who want something genuinely unique. If you love Park City not just for the mountains but for the town itself — the restaurants, the shops, the charm of Main Street, the feeling of being somewhere special — Kimball Terrace puts all of that front and center on your wedding day.

It's also an exceptional choice for a destination wedding. If your guests are traveling in from out of town, the location means they're already steps from great restaurants, galleries, and boutiques. The mountains and trails are right there too. There's no shortage of things to do, and your wedding becomes the centerpiece of a full Park City experience rather than just a day trip to a resort.

It's the venue for the couple who wants the mountains and the town. The scenery and the energy. The natural beauty and the exceptional food. There's nothing else like it in Utah.
